Consuming alcohol affects each person differently. Unfortunately, the affect alcohol can have on the body can turn a well-intended drive into an unfortunate situation. Just one extra drink can lead to a DUI arrest. A Wisconsin man is currently facing charges for driving under the influence following an accident with a police patrol car.
Recently, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office charged the 52-year-old Wisconsin man with his sixth DUI. According to reports, the May 17 accident occurred when the defendant attempted to make a left turn in front of an oncoming police car. Police say the man misjudged the amount of time he had to turn and collided with the squad car. Both officers in the car were injured.
Recently, members of the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office confirmed that charges have been brought against a local 52-year-old man for repeat offenses of dui. According to reports, the gentleman was arrested after being involved in a car crash that injured two police officers on May 17th.
Officials have confirmed that the gentleman had 5 prior drunk driving offenses. He admits to being at fault in the accident that injured the officers because he was under the influence of alcohol when the accident took place. The Milwaukee man is also facing charges for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and injury by operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. The driver is on his 6th DUI offense and his 2nd offense for driving under the influence and causing injury.
Because of his multiple offenses, the driver could face as many as 24 years behind bars. The gentleman has been cooperating to the best of his ability with the police. While having good intentions and cooperating can help a case, other facts and nuances may still adversely affect it.
