A Wisconsin resident is facing a variety of drug-related charges after being arrested as part of what was said to be a month-long investigation into claimed illegal drug distribution in Janesville’s Fourth Ward District.
The Janesville Police Department issued a press release detailing the drug possession charges against a 59-year-old individual. Specific charges include delivery of cocaine, running a drug house and obtaining a drug without a prescription, in addition to the possession charges.
The police apparently executed a search warrant at 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, October 6. They claim to have found crack cocaine, marijuana, prescription pills and cash. Both residents of the searched unit were then arrested. Interestingly, the police charged the 59-year-old with multiple drug charges, while filing only a possession of drug paraphernalia allegation against a 50-year-old person who shared the apartment.
No itemization was provided concerning the amount of each drug claimed to have been found and the item or items said to constitute “drug paraphernalia” were also not described.
The two men face serious charges but are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Nevertheless, the 59-year-old faces serious allegations and may well benefit from consulting a Wisconsin attorney well versed in the defense of drug crime accusations. An experienced attorney may help aggressively fight the charges and work to ensure his or her client the best possible chance of exoneration. The potential for a substantial period of incarceration upon conviction mandates that the charges be treated seriously and answered with a vigorous and meaningful defense.
