In Waukesha, Wisconsin, being involved with prohibited substances is a very serious offense. In fact, law enforcement agencies are always looking for people who have committed such an offense. Upon conviction for a crime like drug possession, conspiracy or drug trafficking, a person usually faces serious consequences, which often includes a very long jail sentence. A Wisconsin man may potentially experience such consequences after he was arrested in an area near Waukesha.
The University of Wisconsin police in Madison arrested a man after his vehicle crashed into a light post. According to authorities, it happened during an alleged high-speed chase on a lake shore bicycle path. Police stated that they were searching for the man because he was involved in a previous hit-and-run accident.
The police report indicated that the man was driving erratically close to Randall Avenue and drove away quickly when officers tried to stop him. He allegedly zigzagged through the lake shore paths and across the campus. Police said that he was trying to flee when he crashed into the pole, but he was caught and taken to a nearby hospital. They added that there was allegedly heroin, methamphetamines, mushrooms and marijuana inside his car. Authorities are requesting charges of drug possession, driving while intoxicated and evading police officers.
It is easy to understand how police reports and news can incriminate a person, but readers from Waukesha should remember that not all accusations are founded. The penalties for a drug-related crime are strict. The penalties may potentially ruin a person’s reputation and ultimately a person’s life. Another thing to remember is that every citizen in the U.S. has rights.
