Police raid Wisconsin home; drug charges filed

In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, drug possession is a big concern. Many people are aware that the exposure to drugs may lead to lifestyle issues — not to mention its potential legal consequences. The severity of the punishment for drug charges can increase if police find that a person not only possesses but also manufactures or has intent to distribute drugs.

Police recently arrested an unidentified 54-year-old man in West Bend for alleged drug offenses. The man is facing multiple charges after authorities found 49 marijuana plants and drug paraphernalia, growing equipment and 7.62 pounds of marijuana on the defendant’s property. According to the Washington County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Enforcement Group, each marijuana plant could have a street value of $1,000. The alleged drug offender is set to appear in court. Police charged him with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, maintaining a place for drug trafficking and manufacture and delivery of marijuana.

With the heightened concern about the effects of drugs, local and national law enforcers are on constant watch for suspected drug offenders. Serious criminal charges, including the manufacture, possession and distribution of drugs carry stiff penalties in Wisconsin. The court may order a person who has been found guilty of a drug crime to pay fines and serve a jail sentence. Additionally, the accused, whether guilty or not, could face public scrutiny as well.

Any person who is facing drug charges may consult a legal professional. What the legal professional can do is to review the facts surrounding the allegations and the arrest, which can be contested if they appear inconsistent. Once these facts are addressed, there is a bigger chance that a person’s innocence can be established. Additionally, a solid defense could reduce the drug charges and the verdict.
