Study: Meth use up considerably in Wisconsin

Agencies of the federal government, such as the FBI, get involved in many ways when it comes to drug issues in states. For one, they sometimes work with state and local agencies to study a particular drug problem in a state.

Recently, the results of such a collaborative study that regarded Wisconsin came out. The study went for a year-and-a-half and looked at meth use in the state. The FBI worked with multiple other agencies in this study.

The study found that meth use has gone up quite a bit in Wisconsin lately. It suggested that meth use in the state likely went up 250 to 300 percent between 2011 and 2015. It also found that the Wisconsin State Crime Lab saw 349 percent more meth-related cases in 2015 than it did in 2011.

Where in Wisconsin is meth use highest? The study indicated that the northwest part of the state sees the most such drug use. However, it also noted that meth use has been spreading to other parts of the state in recent years. Additionally, it suggested that meth use in the state tends to be largely concentrated in rural areas.

One of the things the study is aimed at is providing law enforcement with information aimed at helping them address the issue of meth use in the state. One wonders what impacts the study will end up having on law enforcement behavior here in Wisconsin when it comes to meth.

Another way federal agencies get involved in drug issues in a state is taking their own enforcement efforts. Being accused of meth crimes or other drug crimes here in Wisconsin can sometimes result in a person facing a federal investigation and federal drug charges. One wonders what Wisconsin will see in the way of federal cases related to meth in upcoming years.

When facing a federal drug case and the major consequences that could potentially come from such a case, it can be very important for a person to know their rights and what options they have regarding their defense. So, a skilled drug crime defense lawyers’ guidance is something a person may want to promptly seek out when facing federal drug investigations or charges.
